The Izzi Trust’s mission
is to provide financially disadvantaged children with the best education our country can offer
We are a children’s charity whose philosophy centres on empowerment through education. Our three main areas of activity are:
- running outreach programmes at underprivileged schools and creches
- providing bursaries that enable financially disadvantaged children to attend some of our country’s finest schools
- encouraging and facilitating environmental, cultural and academic events that bring together children from our country’s many different economic and social groups
We carry out this work through our three outreach arms:

2011 = 399 000 meals
Makro in partnership with Izzi Trust were proud to wrap up an awesome year of holiday food parcel distribution at Boschkop Primary School on the 29th November 2011. Izzi Trust distributed 210'000 meals to our outreach partner schools for the long festive season. The first two were Philena Primary in Olievenhoutbos and Madibatlou Middle School in Olifantsfontein on the 22nd of November.
For us Christmas holidays are filled with an abundance of food and presents, yet for most learners attending the schools we partner with, and who receive their 1 meal a day at school, will not have access to food over the school holiday.
In 2011 we proudly distributed 399'000 meals. The meal supplied includes rice, soya, pulses and vitamin powder, thus providing the learners with not only a full tummy but nutrition that will help them thrive.
We are excited for 2012 and look forward to an ongoing partnership with Makro to continue to help these schools nurture well-nourished leaders.
Bursary Students Shine
Pecanwood Educational Trust and the National Lotteries Distribution Trust Fund (NLDTF) bursary students at Southdowns College produced outstanding results!
The students, exceptionally talented in areas of Dance, Music and Visual Arts completed a two year bursary funded by the NLDTF at Southdowns College.
Izzi Trust congratulates these students for their hard work and commitment. We will look forward to seeing their names in lights one day.
Help a Bursary Student
One of Africa's greatest needs is that of strong leadership. We believe that leaders are cultivated from a young age. However, youths with the basic ingredients of intelligence and drive will become leaders only if they receive a solid education.
Independent schools in our country, afforded by the financial elite, attract the best teachers and offer world-class facilities and a range of extra mural activities, ingredients critical to developing a well-rounded individual. These schools chart a path of excellence, adopting cutting-edge trends. Independent schools cater for about two percent of the country's 12 million learners, and the majority of these are white. Deracialisation of our schooling system has become a priority for government and educators alike.
In partnership with the private and corporate sector, the Izzi Trust provides 29 fully funded bursaries to the three Centurus Colleges for learners who are restricted for financial reasons. Bursaries are awarded on merit following a responsible selection process. This project allows the Colleges to strengthen the bonds between the privileged and less privileged, and improve the basic levels of education in the communities we serve.
We are seeking private or corporate sponsorship of bursary students at our three Colleges.
Sponsorships range from R27,000 per annum for a Grade 000 learner, to R36,000 per annum for Grade 12.
All corporate donations qualify for SARS tax exemption under our Section 18a status.
