Izzi Trust & Centurus Colleges bring Christmas joy! – 29 November 2011
Izzi Trust together in partnership with Makro were proud to wrap an awesome year of holiday food parcel distribution at Boschkop Primary School on the 29th November 2011. This November Izzi Trust has distributed 210'000 meals to our outreach partner schools . The first two were Philena Primary in Olievenhoutbos and Madibatlou Middle School in Olifantsfontein on the 22nd of November.
For us Christmas holidays are filled with an abundance of food and presents yet for most learners attending the schools we partner with, and who receive their 1 meal a day at school, will not have access to food over the school holiday. We had our final big feeding scheme delivery in this November, when we supply food parcels to learners to help make the festive season more bearable.
In 2011 we proudly distributed 399’000 meals.
The meal includes rice, soya, pulses and vitamin powder, thus providing the learners with not only a full tummy but nutrition that will help them thrive.
The Izzi Trust – is a children’s charity whose philosophy centres on empowerment through education. Our main areas of activity are: providing bursaries for financially disadvantaged children, running outreach programmes and encouraging and facilitating environmental, cultural and academic events that bring together children from our country’s many different economic and social groups.
LeadSA assist The Izzi Trust – 22 November 2011
The 94.7 KIA Ground Patrol visited Philena Primary School in Olievenhoutbos on the 22nd of November 2011, for the official food parcel hand out to the community of Olivenhoutbos. We felt it was our responsibility as the Ground Patrol to take part in this initiative as Exams are the focus for the month in the Bill of Responsibilities. Everyone has the right to writing exams and have the responsibility in ensuring the right to attend school regularly, to learn and to work hard. This becomes a challenge for the children in Philena Primary School as they can go with days without having a meal and don’t know where the next meal is going to come from.
The Izzi Trust in partnership with Makro had their final big feeding scheme delivery today at Philena Primary and Madibatlou Middle School in Olifantsfontein , where they supplied food parcels to learners to help them get through the exams and help make their festive season more bearable. They used the new improved food package, based on a ‘National Nations’ formula. The food parcels include rice; soya, pulses and vitamin powder, thus providing the learners not only a full tummy but nutrition that will help them thrive.
They managed to distribute 210’000 meals to outreach partner schools. The Izzi Trust – is a children’s charity whose philosophy centers on empowerment through education. They run outreach programmes at underprivileged schools and crèches; providing bursaries for financially disadvantaged children; and encouraging and facilitating environmental, cultural and academic events. We had a great time playing with children, singing with Zwai Bala and took a whole lot of pictures. We urge everyone who can make a difference to Lead SA and do the right thing – contact Frith Wesley – Izzy Trust Manager on: 083 466 7386 or 012 665 114
